August 30, 2011 — Public Workshop to Explore Housing Opportunities & Park Redesign

On Tuesday, August, 30, 2011, University City residents participated in the second public workshop where we looked at parks and housing in the Parkview Gardens neighborhood.

John Hoal, from H3 studios, reviewed the comments gathered from the first public workshop in June, and gave a slide presentation on how these suggestions were incorporated into the latest ideas on how to redevelop the neighborhood. H3 also presented details on the proposed redesign of Ackert and Metcalfe parks and ways to rethink housing in then neighborhood.

Bob Lewis, from Development Strategies, provided an overview of a market survey of the Parkview Gardens neighborhood, comparing income, rental pricing, home pricing and crime statistics to other neighboring areas. Participants then met in small groups to view, discuss and critique three different concepts before presenting feedback to the entire group. More than 50 neighbors participated in the two-hour discussion and workshop.
